Rudo Barbra Sibanda is an accomplished international corporate and commercial lawyer, entrepreneur, and investor based in Kigali, Rwanda. With a diverse background spanning law, business, extractives and renewables projects, and technology, Rudo brings a wealth of expertise and passion to her various pursuits.
Armed with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Botswana, a Master’s in Extractive Industries Law in Africa (LLM) from the University of Pretoria, and a Professional Qualification from the Corporate Governance Institute Southern Africa (CGISA), Rudo has worked as an Associate for two DLA Piper firms – DLA Piper Botswana under the Minchin & Kelly brand, and DLA Piper Zimbabwe under the Manokore brand and is currently the Managing Partner of Sibanda Business Law, a boutique corporate, commercial, projects and technology-focused law firm in Botswana. She has honed her skills in projects and transaction advisory, corporate governance, commercial law, business strategy advisory and corporate services, working on complex international transactions and projects.
Rudo’s expertise extends beyond traditional legal practice. She has worked remotely as a Corporate & Shared Services Manager for firms in Canada, the USA, the UAE, Brazil, Australia, and Malta, where she excelled in product ideation, go-to-market strategies, contract management, compliance, risk management, and intellectual property management. Her ability to navigate the intricacies of international business transactions and her knack for strategic thinking have made her an invaluable asset to the companies she has worked with.
As an entrepreneur, Rudo has co-founded Upendo Tech, a technology, investment, customer experience, and corporate firm, and Cominergy Africa Group, a construction, mining, energy projects, and advisory firm, both operating in Africa. Her entrepreneurial spirit and drive to create positive change have propelled her to explore innovative solutions that can improve people’s lives, one project at a time and one customer at a time.
Beyond her professional achievements, Rudo is an active member of the Institute of Directors Southern Africa (IODSA), Toastmasters International as well as the Corporate Governance Institute of Southern Africa (CGISA), further cementing her commitment to excellence in corporate governance and leadership.
With a unique blend of legal acumen, business savvy, and technological prowess, Ms. Rudo Barbra Sibanda continues to make her mark as a dynamic and multifaceted professional, consistently striving to create value and drive positive change in the organizations and communities she serves.
